Please join with me and support my writing with Reggie so that together we may help Reggie to give his method of teaching Latin to the next generation.

Reginald’s unique method of teaching the Latin language is his great contribution developed while teaching in Rome while serving as papal Latinist for four popes over 40 years (1969-2009). I am helping Reggie to pass it on.

My other duties allow me the freedom to write with Reggie. In these past four years I have spent about 10 months in Milwaukee working with Reggie, and I have begun another about three months working with him this spring and winter. My monastic community gives me the freedom to write with Reggie. Please contribute the funds to support our work.

Our publishing project has developed:

OSSA: First we wrote Reginald’s method for teaching Latin over a span of three academic years. We call it Ossa Latinitatis Sola, The Mere Bones of Latin. That book’s publisher has recently sent the suggested corrections from the copy editor, which Reggie and I are now reviewing.

OSSIUM: That first book presents the skeleton of the Latin language, and the second book puts the meat on the bones. We call it Ossium Carnes Multae, The Bones’ Meats Abundant. The letters of Cicero to family and friends provide plenty of meat for these bones to give shape to the body of the Latin language. We have already written several hundred pages and are now revising the draft.

OS: Cicero’s 51 letters in that book were read by Reginald and those recordings comprise a third project we call Os Praesens Ciceronis Epistularis, The Immediate Mouth of Cicero in his Letters. While we have made these recordings, we are not yet ready to edit them.

OSSIBUS:  the future we intend to work on two other projects. One is to compile what others call “homework” but Reggie calls Ludi Domestici or Home Games at which students play and so teach themselves the Latin language. And we hope to compile the pages Reggie prepared for the many tours he famously gave to visitors to Rome and environs.

I am privileged to be free and able to work with Reggie on these projects, but such a comprehensive publishing project comes at a cost to my monastic community. Please consider making a donation to support my work with Reginald Foster.

Thank you for your interest, tell your friends and help me to support Reggie in publishing his life’s work teaching the Latin language.
