OSSIBUS

OSSIBUS = for the Bones

This book provides exercises for the Bones of the Latin language

In October 2022 I begun to edit the 1,300 unique ludi domestici sent to me for inclusion in this volume, which is projected to comprise two to three bound books. I am still receiving more ludi and welcome them until the editing process will have been completed perhaps in October 2023.

I have also begun to write the list of contributors of ludi to this project. If your name is present in the following list, please check that it is spelled correctly and as you would like it to appear in the finished publication. If you have contributed ludi, but your name is not yet listed, you may write to me at this email address with a gentle reminder, which would be welcome indeed to help me along the way to expressing my gratitude to all who have contributed in so many ways. If you prefer not to have your name listed here or in the book, please let me know and I shall do so.

OSSIBVS LVDI EXERCENDIS

Games for Exercising the Bones

Another offering that we hope to make is a collection of worksheets that guide the classroom lesson or self-teacher and the student in learning of the language. We call these worksheets ludi domestici or “home games”. Producing new Ludi yearly for several decades while teaching in Rome means that all we need to do now is collect them and arrange them according to their corresponding encounters of the Five Experiences. This volume of Ludi we call: Ossibus ludi exercendis: Games for Exercising the Bones.

Needed Ludi

Send your ludi to be included in the collection of Reggie’s ludi. We are preparing a fitting monument to this career-long work by Reggie in volume 4 of Latinitatis Corpus, “Latin’s Body”.

Scan them and send them to Daniel McCarthy at daniel@anselmianum.com.

OR send them in the post to the address given at the bottom of this page.

We shall mention the names of people who donate ludi in the acknowledgements, so send your ludi, please, and be included among those who have donated.

Below is a list of the ludi we have received to date.

If your ludi are not mentioned on this list, please send them to us so that we may include them in the volume.

If your collection of ludi is mentioned below, please check in the right-hand column below to see if we need a clean copy. If so, please scan your ludi and send them to me. Your ludi may help us present a clean copy of Reggie’s original typewritten texts.

The ludi 1996-1999 were retyped. Do you have the originals as typed by Reggie?

Some series are missing one or more ludi, as indicated to the far right.

The ludi we have are arranged by year in the left-hand column, then by experience in the second column. The number of ludi is indicated. In the right-hand column, the condition of the ludi we have is indicated followed by the numbers of the individual missing ludi.

Many of these early ludi are heavily marked up. Please send clean versions if you have them.
