Summertime …

… and the livin’s easy. Reggie enjoys his priceless volumes of Latin literature; many were given by students over the years. Below is an up to date photo of him with one of his treasures in usum serenissimi delphini. He is currently teaching his famous summer program held in recent years in Milwaukee.

The second volume of the Latinitatis corpus is with the publisher. It consists of our commentaries on 51 letters of Cicero ad familiares. As the first volume gives Ossa Latinitatis Sola: The Mere Bones of Latin, the second volume puts meat on the bones and so is called, Ossium Carnes Multae: Locutionis indoles ac natura Ciceronis in epistulis. The Bones’ Meats Abundant: The Character and nature of speech in Cicero’s letters. This second volume is due to be published by The Catholic University of America Press in 2020.

Ossium Carnes Multae: The Bones’ Meats Abundant includes our selection of 51 letters of Cicero in the origianl Latin. These are followed by our translation and commentary on how Cicero expressed himself in Latin. It also includes the 500 sentences wirtten by Cicero consisting of 5 or 6 words or fewer. We have also provided 100 conversations of a teacher and student as they explore the meaning of selected phrases and sentences from this volume and use these sentences of Cicero to compose their own sentences.
